SURT was brought into being in 1993 as a Women’s Association for Labor Insertion. SURT was born with the aim of supporting the process of placing women into the labour market, especially those who, due to social, cultural or personal circumstances, find themselves in an exceedingly vulnerable situation. In 2007 SURT became a Foundation.

The tasks of the Foundation have been recognised as an innovative and transforming project for today's society. The work of SURT is based on each woman's personal project, as well as on research that allows for action measures to be developed. The Foundation also carries out awareness-raising campaigns which target companies, individuals, groups, as well as public and private institutions.

Based on the values of equity between men and women in all areas, SURT Foundation relies on a professional team of experts in the fields of gender policies and equality measures. SURT works under the parametres of cooperation, innovation, and quality, with a vision of improving women's life conditions, especially in the labour sphere.

SURT aims to be a transforming project with a vision of achieving a society based on equity, where women and men have equal rights, diverse identities, complementarily divided tasks and responsibilities, social spaces and power.

OBJECTIVES:

- To favour equity between men and women in all domains: social, political, economic and, specially, in the labour sphere.

- To support the processes of women's labour insertion, specially those who find themselves in situations of major social and employment vulnerability.
